Bio

The Stoney Lonesome Blues Band may be Western New York's best-kept blues secret. Nonetheless, they regularly pack night clubs throughout the area.

The Stoney Lonesome Blues Band was formed in 1992 with the common desire to perform a solid mix of blues standards, lost classics and their own original material. Their wide-ranging influences have resulted in unique arrangements and a diverse repetoire.

When Chimene Williams joined the band in 1995, it broadened the range of the band's repetoire even further. Her tremendous natural talent is just beginning to be tapped, but already her sweet voice has made her a crowd favorite. Todd's vocal and guitar work is always exciting and unpredictable, his varied influences flowing skillfully out from his strings. Dan and Wade put their 15 years performing together hard at work keeping the rhythm in perfect synch.

The Stoney Lonesome Blues Band has put together a repertoire of over eighty songs, mixing blues, funk and R & B. They're always working on new material, ensuring that each performance is unique. Their shows frequently feature influences such as the Texas blues of Freddie King, Albert King, Johnny Clyde Copeland and Lou Ann Barton, the Chicago blues of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, BB King and Koko Taylor, and the contemporary blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Etta James. They also play plenty of their own original material. From the crowded dance floors to the inspired hoots from old and new blues fans alike, there's no doubting the Stoney Lonesome Blues Band's sound is unique and entertaining for all who attend their shows.

Recordings

It's Over, our first public tape release, is out, and the reviews are in! Sharon Schneider, of Blues Beat (the quarterly publication of the Blues Society of Western New York), says:

Todd Clark scorches and talks through lead guitar, and contributes three of the original songs, while bassist Wade Heineman provides a nice shuffle called "Hey Hey Baby." Chimene Williams growls ala Koko Taylor on Sam Maghett's "That's Why I'm Crying," and stars on a shimmying "Shake Your Hips." Dan Gross keeps the drums pulsating behind the beat. The last cut, with vocals shared by Todd and Chimene, features a song Ms. Etta James popularized, "I'd Rather Go Blind."
